Counselor
With over 15 years of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Certified National Counselor, and Certified School Counselor (K-12), I am dedicated to providing compassionate and effective support to children, individuals, and families. My background includes work in public schools, private practice, and post-secondary education, offering me a wide range of perspectives and techniques to tailor therapy for each of my client’s needs.
I specialize in working with children, adolescents, young adults (college/graduate school), and adults, using evidence-based approaches to foster growth, resilience, and emotional well-being. My treatment modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, Play Therapy (for children), Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I also specialize in coaching parents/guardians through common challenges that arise for children in the school setting. I enjoy empowering parents to know and understand their rights when it comes to advocating for their child's specific needs in the school environment!
Children/Adolescents
When working with children and adolescents, I use a combination of Play Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to create a safe and engaging environment where young clients can explore their emotions and learn coping skills. Play Therapy allows children to express themselves in ways that feel natural to them, while CBT helps address negative thought patterns and build healthier, more adaptive ways of thinking. For adolescents, I also integrate Solution-Focused Therapy to empower them with practical tools to manage anxiety, depression, family conflicts, and challenges that may be related to ADHD.
Young Adults
In my work with young adults, I focus on helping them navigate the unique transitions and challenges of this life stage. I often use Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to explore personal values, set goals, and overcome obstacles related to anxiety, depression, and stress management. Solution-Focused Therapy allows us to work together to find practical strategies that help young adults feel more in control of their lives, whether they are transitioning to higher education, beginning their careers, or managing personal relationships.
Adults
For adults, I draw heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Trauma-Focused Therapy to support individuals in managing stress, overwhelm, and complex emotions (past and present). These evidence-based therapies provide tools to reframe unhelpful thinking patterns, regulate emotions, and enhance mindfulness. I also work with adults who are navigating significant life transitions, including postpartum challenges, couples counseling, and family conflict. By using Solution-Focused Therapy, I help individuals develop actionable plans to move toward a more fulfilling and balanced life.
In all of my work, I aim to create a collaborative, supportive, and laid-back space where clients can heal, grow, and thrive. My approach is rooted in compassion, understanding, teamwork, and a commitment to empowering each individual to be the best version of themselves!
In-School Therapy
Recognizing that after school and weekend schedules can be extremely busy for many families, Stephanie offers flexible therapy options including seeing your child virtually while they are at school. This helps children to receive the timely care and support that they need while also easing the strain on busy parents.
